Birthday Surprise (Part 1): Tanuki Raw @ Orchard Central

This post is quite dated since my birthday is on 26 April, but I had a backlog of blog posts, so I am only uploading it now. My sister (#bestsisterintheworld) planned a whole day of surprises for me. I honestly had no idea where we were going the whole day. Our first stop that day was at Tanuki Raw (by the people behind Standing Sushi Bar) and its Truffle Yakiniku Don I had been yearning to try.

But, not before I received a balloon bouquet from her! Did I ever mention how much I love helium balloons? She specially made a trip down to Holland Village to inflate these balloons before asking me to head down to Somerset MRT Station.

Anyway, Tanuki Raw is located on the second floor of Orchard Central and offers both alfresco and indoor seating. Since the weather had been humid lately, we decided to enjoy the aircon indoors.

The Truffle Yakiniku Don is part of their lunch set which is available from 11.30am to 3pm daily. The items on the lunch menu range from seafood to beef to curry and are priced less than $18. In addition, you may top up $2 for a bowl of miso soup, some side salad and a cup of green tea.

Set Lunch at Milagro Spanish Restaurant @ Orchard Central

It has been a long time since I last blogged. Work got in the way and I have so many posts still awaiting me to write them, so here is the first of them. Also, since time is quite tight for me, I will be posting these without my usual cartoon titles.

I went to Milagro Spanish Restaurant located at Orchard Central, some time back with my sis to check out their lunch sets. It is located opposite 49 Seats and the restaurant has one of the best lighting, with a whole stretch of windows alongside the dining area.

We choose a table next to the windows. Each table comes with its own terrarium.

The lunch sets at Milagro comes in two courses ($19.90) and three courses ($25.90), and are available during the weekends too. You may also choose to order each of the courses alone.

Shi Li Fang Steamboat @ Orchard Central

Steamboat is one of my favourite types of food. It is great if you are eating alone, or in a group. It is also good for rainy days, when all you want is just something hot. Furthermore, it gives me an illusion of actually cooking, which I am horrible at.

I can never resist 麻辣 (ma la), an oily and extremely spicy sauce/soup that numbs your senses. It is kind of masochistic, but the more my lips burn and my nose run, the better! It definitely helps to have ice water on the side.

My mum introduced Shi Li Fang to me, as they had a special promotion going on. There was a 50% off on all seafood and meat items all day! In addition, their set lunches are going for only $9.90 (U.P. $22) and they come with a soup base and drink of your choice!

Best of all, they have something special that I have not seen at other steamboat restaurants yet.

Lady M @ Orchard Central

I finally made a trip down to Lady M @ Orchard Central after passing by it so many times and admiring the beautiful glass structure from the outside. The cafe is indeed a sight to behold with all the floor to ceiling windows.

The place is not very friendly for young children and elderly with all the stairs. It also occurred to me that the staff there must get a workout from climbing the steps everyday.
