[Newly Opened] Tête-à-Tête Cafe @ Biopolis, Buona Vista

So glad that there are more cafes opening in the west and Biopolis seems to be a hub for cafes! Tête-à-Tête Cafe is located at Nucleos, one of buildings in the cluster, just a few feet away from Curbside Cafe & Wine Bar. The cafe is really spacious and offers great photo-taking opportunities with its full-length windows.

As I entered the cafe, my eyes were first drawn to the beautiful display of desserts at the entrance, then to the classy and timeless black and white decor.

The staff was very patient with us and took some time to explain the individual desserts. Honestly, that made it more difficult for us to decide what to order as everything sounded so good.

[Newly Opened] Banana Tree Singapore @ Keong Saik Road

Hopping onto the Korean dessert bandwagon, I made my way down to Banana Tree yesterday with my mum and a good friend. The dessert shop opened just three days ago and is located about five to ten minutes’ walk from Outrum MRT station.

The place was packed! There was a queue for tables and a queue to order. We waited about an hour for our desserts to arrive. I was very tempted to tell the staff to stop taking orders and concentrate on pending orders because even as we were waiting so long for our food to arrive, they were still taking orders.

However, it was difficult to be pissed off because the proprietor was so sweet and she kept smiling. It also helped that the desserts were so lovely!

[Newly Opened] The Burning Oak @ Bedok Marketplace (Media Tasting)

I made another rare trip east just for food. The place was at the newly renovated Bedok Marketplace, more commonly known as Simpang Bedok Food Centre. Where most hawker centres have many stalls, this one only has 15.

The stalls have undergone extensive reconstruction to look like a row of shophouses. Currently, most stalls are occupied, but some are still setting up

What is interesting here is that there is a mix of local cuisine, like chicken rice and yong tau foo, and other more specific cuisines like yakitori (Japanese skewers), ramen, Vietnamese and even a meat grill! That said, the prices of food here are slightly higher than normal hawker fare.

Nakhon Kitchen Now at Holland Village!

I was in Holland Village the other day and noticed that the famous Nakhon Kitchen from Hougang Street 21 has now opened a new branch in Holland Village! Nakhon Kitchen is synonymous with Thai food here in Singapore and is possibly rated as the best Thai food found locally.

With this outlet opened, Nakhon Kitchen currently has five branches (Bedok North Avenue 3, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, Pasir Panjang Road and Marine Parade Central). It is so great that more food outlets are moving west!

The outlet at Holand Village is rather small, but rate of change is very fast. We went after the lunch crowd, around 2pm, so we did not have to wait long for a table. The food arrived promptly as well.

[Newly Opened] Coffee Nowhere @ West Coast Plaza

Untitled

I was dining at Pastamania with my parents at West Coast Plaza, when I looked down and a newly opened cafe at the basement caught my eye. The signage was simple in a white serif font, stark against the black background. Coffee Nowhere, a Malaysia-based cafe has opened another outlet in the west (its flagship store is at Rochester Park).

I really loved the chic black and white theme which was made the whole interior very clean and timeless.
