Located on the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands, right next to the famous infinity pool is Celebrity Chef Wolfgang Puck‘s second restaurant Spago. The fine dining restaurant serves Californian cuisine with global accents.

Big Eye Tuna Tartare Cones, which came with chilli aioli, soy, wasabi, shaved bonito, scallions and masago (capelin roe). This dish while delicious was not exactly memorable.

Chicken ‘Laksa’ Spring Roll. I was pleasantly surprised to find authentic laksa rice vermicelli and chicken chunks wrapped in the roll. The roll was then served with calamansi, chilli padi and laksa leaf. An extremely filling dish perfect for sharing.

Celebrity Restaurant Adrift by David Myers @ Marina Bay Sands

With its cuisine is labelled as modern Californian Izakaya, Adrift by David Myers’s menu is an eclectic mix of small plates, salads, seafood, meats and liquor. One of the several celebrity restaurants at Marina Bay Sands, this restaurant located at Hotel Lobby Tower 2, provides a wonderful dining experience.

Crispy Chicken and Sweet Potato Waffle ($19), served with maple-umeboshi syrup. Hands down the best chicken and waffle I have ever had! The waffle was not the typical crisp ones, but slightly chewy from the sweet potato. Also, the chicken was juicy and went well with maple syrup which was a blend of salty, sweet and sour.

Steak and Egg ($32). Grilled beef strip loin, caramelised shallots, potato sauce and fried egg. The steak was tender and cooked to the perfect doneness. The potato sauce was actually mashed potatoes. You may pay an additional $60 if you wish to supplement it with Kagoshima Wagyu.

Caramel French Toast ($8), served with coconut sorbet and kopi syrup. Sadly,  the ice cream was already melting when it was served. This was also half the size of what was shown in pictures, which was disappointing. However, the robust coffee sauce did make up for it a little.

Coconut Parfait ($12), served with sago, longan jelly and pandan ice cream. Honestly, this does not look like much, but the layered coconut dessert was rich, and the bits of fruits and jelly added texture to the creaminess of the dessert.

What made the whole meal extremely enjoyable, other than the excellent food, was the tip top service provided by the wait staff. I always say that good services goes a long way. On a side note, there is complimentary parking coupon with minimum spending of $75 for lunch and $150 for dinner. Limited to one ticket per table.

Long Chim by David Thompson @ The Shoppes, Marina Bay Sands (Media Tasting)

This is my first visit to Long Chim by David Thompson after hearing so many things about it. It was not easy finding my way there, as I could not pinpoint the second floor where the restaurant is located. Then, I realised that I could take a separate lift on the ground level between Mulberry and Hermès Watch Boutique to the celebrity restaurants. You may also access the second floor by the lift lobby next to La Perla.

I started my dinner with Bangkok Blazer ($22), a cocktail that was supposed to be bold and suitable for the connoisseur or rookie risk taker, which I found the latter more to be true for me. This house made spiced rum with port, apricot and angostura was lit ablaze. What a sight to behold!

Catalunya’s Weekend Brunch with Passion @ Fullerton Pavilion (Media Tasting)

I was delighted to be invited to Catalunya for a weekend brunch tasting by Burpple some time back. I had heard and read many good things about the restaurant but never had an opportunity to try it for myself.

The restaurant is located at The Fullerton Pavilion, which is off Clifford Pier and between One Fullerton and Fullerton Bay hotel. And as you can see from the picture below, the place offers a panoramic view of the bay as well as Marina Bay Sands.

With the expansive floor to ceiling windows, you are able to enjoy the beautiful city backdrop while dining on authentic and contemporary Spanish cuisine. The 4,300 square foot restaurant comfortably seats 120 people and diners may choose to dine indoors or alfresco.

As for the main reason I was there, Catalunya’s Weekend Brunch with Passion is a stunning selection of Spanish food, with everything from cured meats to salads and seafood! The semi-buffet brunch is available every Saturday and Sunday from 12.30 to 3.30pm. There is only one seating for and it is a whole THREE HOURS of indulgence!

In addition to the wide variety of food, if you go for the brunch on the last weekend of the month, you will be entitled to a Bingo Game, where you can get to win dining vouchers at Catalunya. The game really kept each of us diners on our toes!

During weekend brunch, the bar area of Catalunya is transformed into sections of food: Market Selection, Charcuterie, Cheese, Salad, Fish and Fresh Juice.
