If you always find ordering cakes a hassle, as you need to make two separate trips down to a bakery to place your order and collect it, then I have a solution for you! CakesOnline,sg, is a brand new online gourmet cake shop, with ISO 22000 certification. The cakes are alcohol free and you may make special requests like cutting the cakes up into bite-sized pieces. The best thing is, they deliver for free!
Chocolate Slated Caramel Tart ($65). A trending flavour now in cafes and bakeries, and CakeOnline.sg is no exception. Bittersweet chocolate ganache and gooey salted caramel, this is definitely a crowd-pleaser.
This was a feast not only for our eyes, but our tastebuds too! The gorgeous red colour of this Mixed Berries Tart ($65) is all natural! The chef uses beetroot colouring for the tart and then a variety of berries for the toppings. I strongly recommend this if you love berries tart.
The Malt-Teaser ($58). I love Maltesers and was really glad to see such a flavour available at the launch. The chef made an attempt at a deconstructed version, with malt cocoa powder and white chocolate. Due to the amount of cocoa powder used to achieve the same flavour as a Malteser, the cake ended up being too dry, lacking in the usual buttery and moist texture of cakes.
Spectaculoos Cheesecake ($58). Cookie butter cheesecake, topped with cookie butter cream and sprinkled with cookie crumble. Speculoos and cheesecake are two of my favourite things and the combination here was a delightful one. However, the lack of gelatin made the consistency of the cheesecake mousse-like and it kind of fell apart as soon as I moved it onto my plate.
Pistachio Raspberry Litchi Cake ($58). Despite the fact that I am not a fan of pistachio, I found myself enjoying this cake, which enjoyed a right balance of sour and sweet.
My favourite among all the cakes will have to be Eggless Blackforest Cake ($58). While the cake is usually prepared with alcohol, this one does not come with any. A classic all on its own and now made even better as vegetarians can have it too!
Tiramisu ($58). Another alcohol-free version by CakesOnline.sg. The flavours of cocoa, coffee and mascarpone cheese were all dominant in the cake, however at the end of the day, I still prefer my tiramisu with some Kahlua.
Lime Meringue Tart ($65). I realised after looking through my photographs that I did not take an individual photo of the whole tart. This was probably my least favourite among all the cakes I tried. The lime was way too sour, that even the sweet meringue could not make up for it.
If you are looking for something more personalised, you can customise the cakes with your own photographs! All you need to do is to upload the photograph that you wish to have on your cake and choose a flavour, and the chef will create a cake specially for you.
