New Modern European Brunch at FYR Cycene ond Drinc @ Boon Tat Street (Media Tasting)

FYR Cycene Ond Drinc has recently launched a new modern European brunch, offering a fun DIY party detox drink, new appetisers and main courses, the last two using their Josper Wood Charcoal Oven and lychee wood to infuse a smoky note to their dishes. Other than the Baked Half Bone Marrow that we had the previous time, FYR has added three more new Small Bites to their brunch menu.

Yam & Sweet Potato ($8), served with cheese sauce and tomato salsa. The chips were sliced so thinly that it was hard to tell what they are made from. I am not much for the cheese, but the salsa with bits of garlic inside, was delicious.

Grilled Squid ($12), served with turmeric, garlic, crispy onion and lime leaves. This was a hot favourite among us foodies and everything about this dish, from the flavouring to the crispy onion were spot on.

Skillet-Roasted Escargot ($12), cooked with turmeric and lemongrass, and served with toasted bread.


For some DIY fun, the bartenders at FYR have created a special Party Detox Basket ($10) which allows customers to mix their own version of Bloody Mary. The basket comes with vodka, grilled fresh tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, rock salt and garnishes.


Grilled Steak & Eggs ($28), striploin served with sunny side up and toasted bread. This is not my favourite cut and it was tougher than I would have liked it to be.

Baked Blinis ($15), a traditional European dish. The thin pancake which is made with yeasted butter is served with grilled salmon, Avruga caviar and grated Bottarga (salted cured fish roe).

Baked Java Curry Chicken Ragout ($15). The chicken stew is cooked with kidney beans, sweet corn and coriander, and served with spring onion crepe. There was too much beans and it took the attention away from the chicken.

Baked Beef Hash ($18), ribeye with corned beef in a pan, served with spring onion crepe. This was pretty much similar in style with the previous dish, but if I had to order one, I would go with this.


Baked Pistachio Melt & Pandan Ice Cream ($10). This dessert is synonymous with FYR and really tasty! I love the pandan ice cream!
