This was not my first visit to Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar. I actually like how the place is hidden at the back of Tanglin Post Office and seem to be like a secret cafe (the only incongruency with that idea is the expensive cars parked in front of it). There are a few tables outside if you choose to dine al fresco but I prefer to sit inside in this hot and humid weather.
There are plenty of tables to choose from, both high and low. Also, the floor to ceiling window offers great lighting no matter where you are sitting.
Smoked Salmon Salad ($16). Mixed greens, avocado and eggs, served with a flambeed mirin dressing. If you find the toppings of the salad insufficient, you may choose to add bacon or grilled chicken to any salad for an additional $6. Honestly, the portion was filling and enough for one.
Chillli Crab Pasta (half portion $16, full portion $25). Crab meat sauteed with house spicy and tangy chilli crab sauce on spaghetti. Mum was pretty disappointed as there were no lumps of crab meat, rather, they were all blended into the sauce.
Aglio Olio (half portion $16, full portion $25). Grilled chicken, chilli padi, fresh basil and cherry tomatoes. The original version came with sauteed fresh tiger prawns and I requested for chicken. I like how the spiciness was not in your face and it subtly kicks in a while later. The chicken was well marinated and tender.
Apple Crumble Cake ($8). We saw this at the cake display and did not know that when we ordered it that it would come with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. That was a pleasant surprise. The cake itself had an interesting texture, which is kind of like a cross between a cake and soft pie crust.
