Trying Out Harry’s New Menu @ Clarke Quay (Media Tasting)

I have always enjoyed visiting Harry’s since it was introduced to me by my aunt who used to work for the company. While it is more commonly known as a bar, what most people do not know is that they serve good food there too. Harry’s latest menu update promises 50 dishes and also comes with helpful beverage pairing tips. This revamp was done under the consultation of The Disgruntled Chef, which is under the same management as Harry’s and Pind Balluchi.

Eye Candy ($16), and you can see why this is named so. A pretty pink “girly” drink consisting of vodka, watermelon liqueur and lemon juice. A good balance of sweet and sour.

Fish Cracklings ($13). Crackling fish skin tossed in a spice mix, served with aioli. Over here, there is no one particular kind of fish skin that is being used and it is dependent on the catch of the day. The garlic based mayonnaise is so potent (in a good way)!

Crab & Potato Cakes (six pieces for $19). Blue swimmer crab and potato cakes, served with Sirarcha tomato dip.

Harry’s Signature Wings (six pieces for $13). The spice mix of these wings have been updated from last year. It is served with homemade chilli jam which tastes a bit like sambal. I love their wings! Every time I visit Harry’s I must have it.

Jalapeno Steak Sliders ($13). A trio of these with charred bell peppers and jalapeno cheese sauce. This new addition to the menu failed to impress. Some of the steak slices had tendons and did not have much taste to it.

Chicken Masala ($23). This flavourful curry pot was so aromatic that you could smell it before it is placed on the table. It is served with toasted charcoal ciabatta, so this can be quite filling.

Crabmeat Spaghettini ($23), pasta tossed with fresh handpicked crabmeat in tomato sauce with pine nuts and fresh cut chillis.

Sweet Potato Chips ($14). It was served with a creamy ranch dip and tasted good even on its own. Sad to say, we ordered this together with desserts and I was too full by then to properly enjoy this.

Dessert was paired with Moscato, which was a bit too dry for my liking, not sweet like the usual Moscato wines I have had.

Sticky Date Toffee Pudding ($14), served warm with toffee sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream. Pretty yummy I must say, but I preferred the one at Jones The Grocer.

Toffee Apple Crisp Tart ($14) and crisp it was not. The thinly sliced apples came with salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Everything was great except for the tart that it was on, which was thin but tough.
