[Newly Opened] Tête-à-Tête Cafe @ Biopolis, Buona Vista

So glad that there are more cafes opening in the west and Biopolis seems to be a hub for cafes! Tête-à-Tête Cafe is located at Nucleos, one of buildings in the cluster, just a few feet away from Curbside Cafe & Wine Bar. The cafe is really spacious and offers great photo-taking opportunities with its full-length windows.

As I entered the cafe, my eyes were first drawn to the beautiful display of desserts at the entrance, then to the classy and timeless black and white decor.

The staff was very patient with us and took some time to explain the individual desserts. Honestly, that made it more difficult for us to decide what to order as everything sounded so good.

For your information, next to the counter is a basket brimming with meringues, which are on the house!

In the end, we narrowed it down to four desserts: Cheesecake, Apple Strudel, Lemon Meringue Tart and Raspberry Terrine. Order three dessert pastries or cakes from their display for $18, instead of the usual pricing. Top up $5 for a pot of Specialty Tea for one to two persons.

The Cheesecake here is rather unique, coated with chopped almonds on the sides and topped with swirls of cream cheese.

I found the price of the Apple Strudel on the high side, even with the Pastry Trio pricing ($6 a dessert). The serving is really small and was no fight for Ritz Apple Strudel.

The Lemon Meringue Tart was sold to us as their specialty and a must-try. In fact, it was so good, they actually created an orange meringue tart, which is a sweeter version.

However, the lemon curd was not set properly and when we broke into the tart, it was like soft custard. Taste-wise, we could not detect any hint of citrus, more like liu sha bao (golden custard bun). The tart itself was pretty good and reminded me of pineapple tart.

As for the Raspberry Terrine, it was a good balance of sweet (from the white chocolate) and sour (the raspberry). In fact, the chocolate twin of this looked pretty good too.

And last but not least, the pot of tea we got. We tried an interesting flavour called Indian Summer. A perfect fruit cocktail of apple, plums, rosehip, cinnamon, hibiscus, orange peel, rose buds, sunflower, aloe vera and orange! What a mouthful!
