This was my first time at Salt Grill & Sky Bar @ Ion Orchard. To get to this restaurant, you need to proceed to their reception counter at level 4, which is opposite Haagen Dazs and Janice Wong. There, they will guide you to a special lift, which takes you directly up to level 55 where the restaurant is.
Since this is a star restaurant, instead of the usual $35++, the dinner set cost $55++.
Sydney Crab Omelette, with enoki mushroom and herbed salad, in miso mustard broth. According to the waiter, this is their signature item.
Salmon Sashimi, with cucumber, shallot and nam jim dressing. Slightly oriental and delectable dish in my opinion.
In between our appetisers and main courses, we waited for 40 minutes, punctuated by the wait staff reassuring us that the dishes would arrive soon.
Grilled Tara Valley Tenderloin, with braised fennel, parsley puree and bordelaise sauce. Rather forgettable, a dish that relied heavily on the prime cut of meat.
Barramundi, petit pois a la francaise. This originally came with bacon, but my sis does not eat bacon, so this is without.
Pan Fried Potato Gnocchi, with corn, asparagus, zucchini, parmesan, thyme and truffle verjuice dressing. A vegetarian dish, but the best out of the three main courses.
Yuzu Panna Cotta, with mandarin segments and ginger beer sorbet. The panna cotta became too heavy and cloying after a while, losing the initial refreshing flavour. It would have been an impressive dessert if the panna cotta was lighter.
Mocha Brulee, with white chocolate ice cream, coffee meringue and oreo crumbs.
All set dinners come with a choice of coffee or tea.
