In the midst of all my Restaurant Week posts, I just had to blog about this! I was quite amazed to find out that O’ Coffee Club is offering a high tea set for two, complete with coffee or tea (as in two pots of tea) for only $28++! The items are usually fixed but if a certain item is not available that day, they will replace it with something else.
Top tier: raisin scones, served with strawberry jam and homemade orange peel mascarpone.
Middle tier: carrot cake, Orange Mile Chocolate Mousse, apple cinnamon crumble, peanut macaron, almond biscotti and chocolate eclair.
I could not taste the peanut butter in the macaron, just the orange blossom shells. Also, the tart base was a bit too soft for the apple crumble. However, I kind of liked the cubes of pineapple in the carrot cake. Not the usual arrangement in a carrot cake, but it was a nice touch.
The original set came with Mango Diva, which is a mango yoghurt mousse on red date and walnut cake. However, it was not available, so it was replaced by the orange chocolate cake.
Bottom tier: BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich, smoked salmon sandwich and ham & cheese sandwich. Surprisingly for a sweet tooth, this was the tier I enjoyed the most, especially the focaccia, which came with the salmon and ham sandwiches.
On the side: Verrine. Rum and passionfruit syrup-soaked sponge, fresh orange, whipping cream and chocolate pearls. I found that the whipping cream dominated this dessert that it covered up both the passionfruit and orange flavours.
This afternoon tea is only available at selected outlets (Raffles City, Millenia Walk, Changi Airport Terminal 3, Wisma Atria, Wheelock Place and Paragon) till 30 April 2015, from 3 to 5pm daily.
For your information, the Millenia Walk outlet is closed temporarily for some minor renovations.
- O’ Coffee Club 25th Anniversary Promotion: Diners turning 25 this year get to enjoy this afternoon tea for a special price of $25++.
