This was my first visit to Mad for Garlic @ Suntec City, even after the chain had opened in Singapore for so long. Did you know that Mad for Garlic is from Korea? I did not! I had the impression that it was from Italy.
The Korean restaurant was awarded ‘Best Performing Italian Restaurant Concept 2013’ in Korea and is actually quite unique in its extensive use of garlic in its dishes.
The original Mad for Garlic outlet in Suntec City, which opened in 2010, was the first overseas restaurant outside of Korea. However, it closed in 2011 due to mall renovations and opened its doors again in May 2013. Their other outlet in Clarke Quay opened its business in 2012 and is famous for its full service bar.
We started with Mad for Garlic Cobb Salad ($19.90). Salad served in vinegar dressing with shredded chicken breast, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes and egg.
Garlicpeno Pasta ($18.80). Mad for Garlic special pasta with garlic, Mexican pepper and a Korean twist. This is one of their signature and must-try dishes, and probably the most interesting aglio olio styled pasta I have had so far.
Their famed Garlic Steak ($37.80). Special ribeye steak topped with assorted garlic. I would have preferred the steak to come with a solid layer of garlic below it so that it would not be well done by the time I got to eating it.
Steak & Arrabbiata Pasta Combo ($32.70). Tenderloin steak with arriabbiata pasta. I preferred this to the Garlic Steak. The cut of the steak was better and I felt it was more worth the money, with a side salad and a serving of pasta.
Garlic Snowing Pizza ($22.50). Special sweet garlic pizza topped with shrimps and pineapple slices. I have not met anyone who had eaten this pizza and did not like it. The thin and crispy crust as well as the sweetness of the toppings deserve its rave reviews.
