Pie Face Is Finally in Singapore!

Pie Face, a leading micro-bakery cafe from Australia, has finally opened its first store in Singapore at 313@Somerset! This cafe is famous not only for having cute expressions on its pies, it is also renowned for baking all its gourmet pies from scratch.

The dough of the puff pastry takes about three days to prepare. The pastry has 48 layers formed by folding a special blend of butter. Chef Francois Galand, the man behind the pies, comes from a long line of pastry chefs.

The pies come in two sizes–mini and regular. The mini pies are priced from $3 and the regular ones from $4.90. In my opinion, looking at the two sizes, I think that the regular ones are more worth your money.

We tried all the savoury and sweet pies they had that day!

Thai Chicken Curry Pie ($4.90). The curry taste is authentic but I find the filling too gelatinous.

Tandoori Vegetable Pie ($4.90). An option for vegetarians who prefer their food spicy.

Chicken and Mushroom Pie ($4.90). My favourite among the four. The chicken is very tender and the cream sauce pulls everything together.

Chunky Steak Pie ($5.20). Their signature item.

Chicken and Chicken & Cheese Sausage Roll ($3.80 each). This, you have to try. The pastry is flaky and the sausage is delicious.

Cheese and Almond Stick ($1.90 each). Most of my friends found the Cheese Stick too cheesy but I loved it.

All eight of the mini dessert pies ($3.30 each): lemon, pecan, raspberry, butterscotch, apple crumble, chocolate, coffee mousse and green tea with red bean. Our favourites were butterscotch, pecan and raspberry.

Their coffee also came highly recommended. Pie Face serves fresh brews like cappuccino, latte, long black, mocha and macchiato.
