Last Saturday, we made a trip down to Robertson Quay just to try Toby’s Estate, however they were sold out before 1pm! We were told to return at 3pm after the kitchen replenished their stock. Hungry us, we were not willing to wait, hence we headed to another popular hangout, Common Man Coffee Roasters.
Even though it was after lunch, the atmosphere of the place was very lively and every table was filled.
I had the Organic Eggs Benedict($24). I think I took too long to take pictures, so my dish was all mushy. It was an interesting idea to include braised ox cheeks, but it can be quite heavy if you intend to order this for breakfast.
I loved my hot chocolate ($6)!
Sis had the house-made crunchy granola with Greek style honey yoghurt ($15) and she liked it. The inclusion of fruits lent a slight sour and sweet taste to the bowl.
All in all, I found the prices here very high and I do not think I will return.
After our movie, we went to Fatboy’s, which we happened to see as we alighted the bus earlier.
This place opens till late and has no service charge! How awesome is that?
My sis ordered her customised burger, which was essentially The Elvis but with chicken instead of pork. The burger you see above has the honey oat bun with chicken patty, grilled bananas and peanut butter sauce. There are about 4,400 combinations you can create with all their different buns, patties, toppings and sauces!
I had the Bleu Peppercorn ($12.50). Beef chuck patty coated in crushed black pepper, topped with a crispy onion ring and homemade blue cheese dressing on a sesame bun. The onion ring which was supposed to be crispy turned out to be soggy and my patty which I requested to be medium, came almost well done.
That said, I would still return as I liked the thick coat of crushed black pepper and I intend to customise my own burger next time with their nutella sauce!
