Lo and behold! Check out our ferry to Santorini!
Yes, imagine Superstar Virgo, multiple decks and all, with a souvenir shop, fast food restaurant, cafe and cushy seats! We simply could not believe this was our ferry. We totally imagined those rustic ferries that we take to Batam. What a pleasant surprise!
We had to wake up at 4.50am to reach the port at 6.25am for boarding. It was a seven hour cruise with a few stops at the other islands, but time did not seem long when you are enjoying yourself!
We went up to the deck to see how the ferry docks at the ports.
And soon it was our turn to leave the ferry! Look at the crowd! I felt like some character in a sci-fi movie, whose spaceship was finally docking on land after years of voyage and adventure.
We stayed at Antonia Hotel, which was just a street away from all the shops and restaurants. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful.
As usual, after putting down our bags, we decided to explore the main street and also to find a good place for dinner.
Many things to buy at Santorini, but they do not exactly come cheap.
The views I must say are AWESOME!!!
We had dinner at Fanari, which was highly recommended by the owner of our hotel. He said they had great food at affordable prices, with one of the best views of the famous sunset. We reached there early to get a good seat.
And I must say, he was right on all counts! The service was superb as well. The waiters were very friendly. However, they stopped being chatty and got really busy just before sunset when the dinner crowd arrived.
One last picture taken around sunset. This place is simply beautiful.
